Quilting really intimidates me... which is silly really. I have a top of the line sewing machine with a special foot called a BSR (Bernina stitch regulator) which helps make quilting easier... its the reason I bought that machine! So I thought hey I just need to get over it. I practiced a little on a scrap and then i went ahead a quilted this bag! It's far from perfect, but it came out just fine and I finished the bag tonight - yippee! 
Your bag is so cute! I love it. I'm so proud of you doing the quilting yourself, I knew you could do it. And doesn't it make you feel great for your accomplishment? I just know your friend is going to love this bag too.
