Garden Update Weeks 12 & 13

Last week I harvested my one and only corn cob! I learned that you need to plant in at least 2 rows or a square so that the tassels can pollinate the corn silks... opps live and learn right? (or do more research before planting!). We were lucky enough to get this one!

I kind of love how the cantaloupe vines are taking over the garden, and wrapping themselves all over! Its cute.

Cucumber vine that was hiding by the onion pot. I saw it, but I just left it thinking it probably would die.

The Garden Week 12 ( I pulled all the corn out since it was evident it would not produce any more cob!)

On Monday of week 13 I planted sweet potatoes! I ordered bare root plants online and am going to give it a try.

I harvested bunches and bunches of green onions for my work buddies and family. Kenny even made us a really great dinner with sausage, potatoes and added the green onions to it.

I have a few watermelon buds:
  And at least one cantaloupe!

Apron Envy

I am spoiled... I saw this on FB and decided I needed to make it... its trendy... and hello its an Apron!

When I told Kenny about it he said, "That sounds like a waste of time" I stared at him shocked... he never says no when I want to do things... I asked why and he said, "Well you already have 15 Aprons and you don't cook."  Funny guy huh?

I got to class 30 mins early to get my supplies and everyone was already there working! I was a little stressed they had already started so I hurried out to pick my fabrics... another stressor... I am really terrible at choosing fabrics. It took me 45 minutes and I ended up with these Halloween fabrics/colors.

There was absolutely no instruction given by the teachers... I started to pick through the pattern in frustration. I really hate reading patterns, which is why I PAY for and take classes... Finally the teacher said, "Oh did you need help?" I rudely snapped back, "Yes, that is why I am taking a class" (I don't know why I am such a snot sometimes)

She helped me with the first steps and then after each step I had to ask for instruction... There were several times they told me to do one thing and it turned out to be incorrect. SO frustrating!

SO I made this terrible Apron and spent $57 on it. ($20 for the class fee and $37 in supplies)

I finished just before 10 PM and was the ONLY one to finish. That is totally ridiculous. Ugh.

Kenny said it was missing something when I showed it to him.... I said, "What?" and he said, "It needs a soup stain right here and some chicken cheese spaghetti here" Lol I will have to work on that! I usually don't actually use my Aprons... just sort of collect them. But I might use this one!

Bounching off the Walls !

I made a deal with Jacob. If he could go 5 days without crying/whining we would all go to Jump Street as a reward (don't tell him, but I wanted to take them there anyway!). It took 3 weeks and he finally made it 5 days without being whiny or crying over something dumb.... SO we went!

The boys were oh so excited! So was I, its a fun place.

We all tried the foam pit:

Jacob swimming in the foam
Oh and the obstable course was pretty fun too! We raced each other... Jacob was pretty speedy and beat Little Brian, Big Brian beat Kenny and I ...umm beat Little Brian too... Little Brian and Jacob raced again and Little Brian won... we later found out that Uncle Kenny reached over the edge and held Jacob back (he was a little weepy about that but didn't cry!)

Jacob about to win his race! (Very serious face!)

Me coming out of the 'squeeze'
Little Brian flying out of the squeeze - I told him , 'you got this hurry!" He was so excited to win
Little Brian just exhausted after his race : )
Oh how my brother loves dodge ball... he got all of us in there to place except Jacob. He loved it.

And there is just the regular jumping on the giant trampolines. So much EXHAUSTING FUN!

Camping

Our first camping trip of the season and we were loaded down!! Trailer, canoe, 1 quad, 3 adults, 2 little boys and a dog!

Jacob and Hopie on the way up!
Little Brian

Since Kenny was in Vegas all week we ended up leaving on Saturday morning instead of Friday night which put us up in Forest Lakes around lunch time. While the guys were setting up I made sandwiches and then we headed to the lake to take the canoe out on the water for the first time ever! Kenny and Brian went out on the water first to make sure the boat was water worthy and it was!

Next the guys took the boys out for their first boat ride!

Jacob was so cute he said, "Brian come look at the dragonfly!" I love to see them explore and see things new things!

Jacob testing out his new life vest in the freezing cold water
Hope was very upset and didn't like it when Kenny and I were separated (one on the boat the other on land)  so we took her out with us... she was very excited and would shift from side to side rocking the boat. I was sure she was going to dump us out, but we made it back safe and sound!

After a full afternoon of  playing in the water and paddling across the lake we were all exhausted and headed back to camp.

The boys played baseball, golfed and explored the woods (very close to camp!).

Hopie running around camp

At our campsite there was mysterious blob hanging from a tree... so we of course had to see what it was... then men started with throwing rocks, sticks etc and moved on to horse shoes... smart I know.
Brian throwing a horseshoe into the air

They finally got it down... it was a ball of sting!

It was hilarious to here their expressions once they got it down... Brian said, "Who would do something like that lol" It was pretty comical and gave us something to do for about an hour!

My friend Donna told me about the Mentos/Pepsi experiment... Here is the video we made (sorry it is sideways!)

Little Brian drank the other half of Pepsi that was left!

Jacob

When we bough the trailer I dreamed one day our kids would fill the bunks in the back... this weekend the boys filled them up and it just made me so happy. They loved sleeping there (yes they are playing video games before bed)

We left pretty early in the morning... kind of a quick trip and I wish we stayed longer, but we were all pretty tired and had lots to do at home. While we were packing up my brother was reeling up the stabilizers and the  tool came loose and whacked him in the face! The boys were SO concerned about there dad (you know face injuries bleed a lot!) Good thing he had his sunglasses on to protect his eye!!

Jacob and Hope on the way home!

I just love being able to camp with my brother and his boys!! I am thankful we are able to leave our trailer and stuff at Sarah's house in Forest Lakes too!! Can't wait for a summer full of camping!
