The Simple Weekend

Kenny and I were planning on going camping for the weekend, but I just wasn't feeling it. So we decided to skip this weekend and stay in town.
Saturday we spent the day with the Taylors. We started our day with some shopping at Target. We found lost of treasures on clearance and too many things we couldn't live without ; )
Kenny, Brian and the boys snacking on popcorn while my mom and I finished shopping
We had a nice lunch at New York Pizza Dept .
Mom, Jacob and Little Brain
After lunch we went to Updown Alley, a new entertainment venue in Surprise. They have a bowling alley, bar/restaurant area and an awesome arcade. My brother had $31.00 in quarters... the funny thing is none of the machines actually take quarters anymore! The cashier had to count and roll all the quarters and put the money on a plastic card that we all had to share. It actually worked out really well so the boys didn't run out and spend all their quarters way before we did : )

Then my mom and brother played... my mom WON!!

We just relaxed and got things done around the house the rest of the weekend. It was nice to get caught up on homework and housework!

Fall Garden Planted

I finally got around to planting my Lobella flowers, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli and tomatoes!

Flowers (in the hangers), cabbage, lemon tree and tomato

Just a front view of my cactus garden and the awesome vines

Vines and rows

I am lucky to have help with the tough stuff. Kenny tilled up the dirt and added a bunch of garden soil for me. I found a GIANT black widow and had my brother squash it for me. I wish I had more room for the garden, I would put in raised beds for sure!

Bloom

This morning as I sleepily watered the garden I saw this peaking through the leaves!!

I was so excited I ran and got my phone (camera) and Kenny to see it!!

Isn't it just beautiful? The below picture is now my screen saver on my phone and I couldn't stop looking at it all day!!

It was a great surprise... unlike the surprise I got earlier this week... I was pulling a weed outside of the garden and got zapped by the electric fence. BAM I was wide awake.... The downside to gardening in the early morning hours before you are fully awake.

Oh and look at this picture Kenny's Step mom sent me!!! Jason, Kenny's brother-in-law, caught this today!! They live along the Mississippi river. How neat is that???

Dbacks Game

We had SO much FUN at the diamondback game tonight! Brian, Kenny and I used our Pogo passes to get free tickets and thanks to a kind stranger we got the boys tickets free too! Oh the night wasn't free by any means, but at least the tickets were ; )

I don't know what was so special about this night, but it was FUN. Everyone was in a good mood, we laughed a lot. Not bad for a Tuesday night after Yoga : )

Arizona Museum of Natural History (and the rest of the weekend)

Friday night Kenny went out to Buckeye to help his mom out with her 'to do list'. While he was out there I spent the evening with the Taylors. We ordered Pizza and my mom and I put together a Scrapbook from a kit. It was a nice relaxing evening.

Saturday my mom and I used the Pogo passes and took the boys to the Arizona Museum of Natural History out in Mesa. Well we drove out to Mesa, got my brother's cigarettes and then had a quick meal at good ol' Jack in the Box (so healthy I know) and then went to the Museum.

As we approached the entrance the boys grew nervous about going inside where all the dinosaurs were... I am not sure why they are so afraid of things, but they sure were frightened to go in... didn't help that they had two massive displays in the lobby. Even my mom was full of wonder ; )

Jacob, my mom and Little Brian
Little Brian saw my taking the picture can you tell?

Both boys LOVED these giant puzzles on the light boxes:

Jacob and Little Brian were scared to go into the next room...

Jacob was terrified and holding on to me so tight!!

Once they started to realized nothing was alive in the museum they started to warm up and enjoy the exhibits a little more.

They boys played in the activity center for a while

Some how my mom and I were able to hit a couple stores before we headed back to our side of the world. The boys were so good as usual and waited for us.

While we were out playing the Kenny and my brother were off golfing. They ended up having time to go to a movie and lunch too.

Sunday I went to my Aunt's house to sew and spend time with her. We made schlep bags (one more Christmas gift done!)... then I caught the sewing bug and came home and sewed all evening! I made several more Christmas gifts that night.

The Potato Ran Away!

I have been trying to contain the sweet potato vine, but this week it has escaped the safety of the garden (electric) fence! The dogs have left it alone so far...

Check out these pretty leaves on vine1

I was telling my mom about this picture and I described it as the sweet potato vine escaping from the garden. Little Brian said, "OH I want to see!!" So I handed him my phone to find the picture. He scrolled through all the pictures and said he couldn't find it... I said well what are you looking for (I was driving and couldn't help him find the picture). He said, "The potato running away!" Ha ha Cracks me up the way they think : )

Window Seat!

One of my coworkers and friends has decided to leave our company. Its sad, but he just wasn't happy there anymore.

We took him out for dinner to say good-bye and wish him luck in his new endeavor.

Becky, Kenny, Me, Candace, Jeff and his wife Sabrina

When he left... I was all over his desk. My manager approved my seating change and I moved in the afternoon Jeff left. I am more than excited to be back in a window seat after 2 years of 'working in the dark'. Ahhh

Fall Garden

Check out my sweet potatoes!! I love how green and beautiful the leaves are! I am trying to contain the vines in one row using trellis, but it is still growing like crazy!

My calendar is set to Harvest these Friday. I am concerned I don't have any flowers, but from what I read online it says sweet potatoes 'often' produce a purple flower.... so maybe they don't always... hmmmm

My pumpkin vines are really taking off too!! We were gone all weekend (my dog sitter Donna watered for me) and when I got back the leaves had more than doubled in size!! WOW!

I am thinking these might be some buds!! How exciting!!

This weekend I plan on planting the rest of my fall garden. Fun stuff!!
