Game Night!

Tonight we had Jereme and Meolodi over for Coke Roast and a few games of LCR. I get really nervous about cooking for other people (except my parents!) so I was already nervous and wanted everything to go right and taste good... then Kenny's appointments ran late and he didn't end up getting home until 5:30! I left work a little early and was able to get all the food going in time.
I think all the food came out pretty good, but my favorite was the dessert! I made brownies with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge- yummo!
We need to do this more often, but maybe order Pizza to lower the stress level a little- lol.

Growin' up Fast

I got a chance to spend a few hours with our nephews this afternoon. We went to McDonalds while my brother and Crystal did some errands. I haven't seen the boys in a couple weeks and boy have they changed! Mostly Little Brian! He had a big growth spurt and grew a few inches! When I showed Kenny this pictures he couldn't believe that was little Brian.
Here are the boys playing on the video games
Jacob
Jake and I making silly faces

I probably shouldn't have posted this picture... but looking back it will probably be funny. Little Brian kept asking for McDonald's toys and he told me he just wanted one...

Non-Pass

I took my test today and got a non-pass grade (meaning I got below 70%). I feel extremely defeated, because this is the 3rd time I have taken this particular test. I have spent $640 in fees and materials that I will not be reimbursed. I was trying to finish this year before June so we could go to with a few other coworkers to Orlando, FL ... that is not going to work out now. I am not sure what the next step is for me, but I do know I am not going to quit.

New Kick

Our buddy Blair was telling us about a Cleansing diet she was doing and it really sparked my interest and I wanted to try it (because I want to try everything!)
The gist of the diet is that you eat only things that come from the ground (plus you can have chicken, eggs, goat cheese and a few other things). When you wake up you drink a liter of water. Later in the morning as breakfast or a midmorning snack you drink carrot/lettuce juice. You can make lots of different juices, but this is the one Blair tried so that is what I did. Kenny and I juiced up 3 lbs of carrots and a head of romaine lettuce and got 1 glass each of this juice/sludge.
It doesn't taste great.

BUT holy hannah does it give you energy! I could think more clearly at work and was extremely productive (also helped with me studying this week!). Kenny did it too a noticed a big difference.... let me tell you this is the only way I have discovered to get that much vegetable goodness into the man!

Anyway, just wanted to share.

Very Exciting

I haven't posted much this week, because we haven't been doing anything too exciting...

We have been hanging out at home so I can study for my upcoming CPCU test... here is Kenny and Hope

And Miss Shelby
and of course Toby

4 adults and 3 kids

I am SO glad to be back to our regular hours at work! Getting off at 3:30 is really something to be thankful for and the evenings are so much longer! After work today Kenny and I took a quick 2 mile hike at Thunderbird Park. It was nice to get back out there and get the blood pumping again. In the last 6 weeks I have gained 10 lbs and Kenny has gained some too... So we were ready to get back out!

After our hike we met up with Michelle, Trevor, Zack and the babies. Michelle and Trevor treated us to dinner AND gave us some great framed prints from the babies photo shoot.
Michelle and Mr. Matt
Emma (3 1/2 months old)
Zack's driving now! LOL
Matt didn't have as much fun as the rest of us tonight... he is teething.
Zack : )

After dinner we went to Joann's to pick out the papers for the twins baby announcements. I am really excited to get making them. Better late than never right?

Just cuz

Today Kenny brought me these flowers... just because. Aren't they unique? They are kind of feathery... and its a plant so maybe I can keep it alive for awhile.

I asked "Why?" and he said "Why not?" Tee hee I am spoiled.

Spelunking

Friday afternoon Kenny and I hooked onto the trailer and headed down to Tucson to meet up with some friends at Peppersauce Campground near Oracle.

The camp ground was a little tight for a trailer, but with Kenny's expert driving he got the trailer into the spot no problem!

Saturday we relaxed, ate, played cards... ate some more.

Me and my favorite little boy
The camp guard dog
Finally it was time to go check out the cave...
Here is the entrance ... to the cave
Jereme and Melodi, Kenny and me

Here is one of the skinny areas we had to climb up
I couldn't capture the sparkles with the camera but this was sparkly
Kenny taking a breather in the cave. It was so strange that you could see your breath, but it wasn't cold... in fact it was so humid that we were drenched with moisture.
Here is one of the better pictures, but I had some trouble taking pictures inside the cave because 1) the MUD and 2) the lack of light! It is pitch black in there and although the flash would light up a small area it couldn't always give enough light to take the pictures. We were literally crawling/climbing and falling in slushy mud so my hands were covered in mud (and so was the camera by the time we exited!)
This is the last "hole" we had to crawl through to come back out of the cave.
last room... we can see day light again!
In the picture we don't really look that muddy, but trust me we were COVERED in mud!
Saturday night it was Kenny and my turn to cook (Jereme made us sloppy joes and french fries the night before and French toast for breakfast - yummo). We made Taco Tents...
If you are a camper with a pie Iron you might want to try these-

Taco Tents

2 tubes of refrigerated crescent rolls
1lb prepared taco meat
2 c shredded cheese
salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream etc

Build a flaming campfire. Generously grease both sides of the pie iron with non-stick cooking spray. Unroll crescent rolls and separate into squares, leaving every two crescent rolls together. There should be 8 squares. Place one square on one side of the pie iron and soon the prepared meat and cheese (we added the salsa too!) into the square. Top with another crescent roll square (we just folded it in half to make a little pocket). Close iron and hold over flame for 3 mins on each side, until crescent squares are golden brown. Remove from fire and open carefully with a hot pad (we used tongs to remove them from the iron). Garnish with salsa, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream etc.

Sunday morning we made breakfast burritos and headed out to shoot the guns. Jereme brought a bunch of produce and the guys set it up on the mountain side for us to aim at. It was actually pretty fun, although I wasn't a fan of shooting Kenny's .45 (too much kick for me) , I am more of .380 girl.

We headed home in the early afternoon. When we got home we did the usual unloading, cleaning etc of the trailer and then took it back to Buckeye. We were lucky enough to be invited to dinner at Sarah's. We were both sunburned, bruised, sore and tired and really enjoyed the wonderful Chicken n dumplin' dinner Sarah made us from scratch.

Now its back to work to rest up from the weekend! Hope yours was great too!

New "DO"

Friday I took the plunge.... I got my virgin hair dyed for the first time... (okay it is not really virgin because I did get highlights once and a perm in HS).

Friday morning Kenny, my grandma and I had a nice breakfast at Kiss the Cook.
Then my grandma and I headed to the beauty shop and she got her hair done and I got mine colored...
ta- dah!

Experiences vs. Things....

One of the bloggers that I follow recently talked about buying "experiences" rather than material things for her family... I thought a lot about that and came up with the idea of giving Kenny a day of fun rather than some thing.

Anyway, the day started by renting this awesome Mustang Convertible -
Then we met up with Barb and Sarah for a b-day breakfast at Bill Johnson's Big Apple.
They even brought him a birthday pie and sang to him even though it was breakfast time!
Barb, Sarah and Kenny posing for a quick picture in the convertible!
Here is Kenny opening his card from my parents.
After all that we went golfing! Kenny is so much fun to learn new things with. He is a great teacher, patient and kind.
After our game of golf Kenny decided we should drive up to Prescott to the casino,
I normally wouldn't post retarded looking pictures of myself... but this was pretty funny. I stood up in the car while we were zooming down the road... really fun!
We went to Bucky's Casino and played the Black Jack tables for a while. We left about $50 ahead! When we were cashing out we asked if they had a Deal or No Deal slot machine. She told us they didn't but a local arcade had one where you win tickets instead of money. SO we headed over there next.
After the arcade we had a late dinner at Olive Garden with our winnings. We drove most of the way home with the top up since it was only in the 40's, but once we hit town Kenny put the top back down and we turned the heater on full blast : )

We really had a great day and made a lot of good memories.

We didn't have to return the car until the next day so Kenny got to play a little more...
naughty...
Not bad for turning 29!
